October 18   Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC)

Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC)
In this session, you will learn what AAC is, who uses it, and why it’s important. Learn proper communication, etiquette and interactions with the public that may be using these devices. In addition, you learn about the team involved in working on identifying AAC devices for individuals with disabilities. Training will be capped at 25 participants.

This session is combined with the Episodic Disabilities training.

October 18   Episodic Disabilities

Episodic Disabilities
In this session, we discuss disabilities that are considered episodic and what that means for assistive technology considerations and accommodations in the workplace. Understanding the functional issues of these disabilities will result in greater participation by the consumers in the discussion of the issues in identifying possible solutions. Training will be capped at 25 participants.

This session is combined with the Augmentative and Alternative Communication training.

Learn about disabilities that may affect mobility and dexterity, including wheelchair users and arthritis. In particular, see assistive technology for access to computers and mobile devices. Preventive ergonomics and workstation adjustments are important parts of this topic. Training will be capped at 25 participants.
