In this session, you will learn what AAC is, who uses it, and why it’s important. Learn proper communication, etiquette and interactions with the public that may be using these devices. This training is combined with the Episodic Disabilities training, where we discuss disabilities that are considered episodic and what that means for assistive technology considerations and accommodations in the workplace.

December 13   Mobility Disabilities and Ergonomics

Mobility Disabilities and Ergonomics
Learn about disabilities that may affect mobility and dexterity, including wheelchair users and arthritis. In particular, see assistive technology for access to computers and mobile devices. Preventive ergonomics and workstation adjustments are important parts of this topic. Training will be capped at 25 participants. December 14   AT and Accommodations Training Event

AT and Accommodations Training Event
AT And Accommodations Training Event This event is a full day of training focusing on assistive technology and accommodations. Topics of discussion include a brief overview as well as software and equipment demonstrations in 5 disability categories: Cognitive, Speech, Physical, Vision, and Hearing. You will be teamed up to discuss case studies, where you will learn how to identify the abilities and needs of each individual and create an accommodating work environment. Be ready to participate and be challenged! Training will be capped at 30 participants.
