Listed below are the services available by AT Arizona. We provide workshops, trainings, and site evaluations for Arizona Vocational Rehabilitation and Arizona@Work staff.
Educational Workshops
AT Arizona has 8 established workshops that can be scheduled for staff in person or virtually. These trainings offer an overview of disability awareness, etiquette, and assistive technology for people with a variety of disabilities. If none of these trainings matches your needs, please contact our team for a customized workshop.
Disability and Civil Rights
This presentation discusses laws related to disability and employment, including the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Learn what accommodations people with disabilities can reasonably request from employers.
This training is 3 hours long and is available for 2.75 CRC Credit Hours
Blind and Visually Impaired
Introduction to working with people who are Blind or Visually Impaired. This session offers a basic understanding of the types of vision loss and the most common disorders that may lead to blindness. Learn etiquette, accommodations, and how to guide someone in this population. In addition, see a wide variety of the assistive technologies specialists may recommend for people who are blind or visually impaired, and understand why those recommendations are made.
This training is 3 hours long and is available for 2.75 CRC Credit Hours
Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Topics for this session include the different types of hearing loss and understanding the difference between people who are hard of hearing and those who are Deaf. Learn how to communicate with someone in either population, and understand etiquette and resources such as hearing aids and assistive technology.
This training is 3 hours long and is available for 2.25 CRC Credit Hours
Combined Vision and Hearing Loss
Learn about combined vision and hearing loss, challenges for people in this population, assistive technology adaptations, and the resources available to you. This session gives an overview of how to work with a person with combined vision and hearing loss, including communication and guiding tips.
NOTE: Attendees are only eligible for this training after attending the Blind and Visually Impaired and Deaf and Hard of Hearing workshops.
This training is 3 hours long and is available for 2.25 CRC Credit Hours
Motor Disabilities and Ergonomics
Learn about disabilities that may affect physical access, mobility and dexterity, including wheelchair users and arthritis. In particular, see assistive technology for access to computers and mobile devices. Preventive ergonomics and workstation adjustments are important parts of this topic.
This training is 3 hours long and is available for 2.75 CRC Credit Hours
Cognitive Disabilities
Learn about the functional limitations and potential AT and accommodations for a variety of cognitive challenges, including: learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Traumatic Brain Injury, Intellectual Disabilities, Developmental Disabilities, and Mental Illness.
This training is 3 hours long and is available for 2.50 CRC Credit Hours
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
In this session, you will learn what AAC is, who uses it, and why it’s important. Learn proper communication, etiquette and interactions with people who may be using these communication systems. In addition, you learn about the team involved in working with people with speech related disabilities.
This training is 2 hours long and is available for 2.00 CRC Credit Hours
Episodic Disabilities
In this session, we discuss disabilities that are considered episodic and what that means for assistive technology considerations and accommodations in the workplace. Understanding the functional issues of these disabilities can better prepare individuals in identifying possible solutions.
This training is 1 hour long and is available for 1.00 CRC Credit Hours

Site Evaluation
AT Arizona staff are available to conduct in-person or virtual site evaluations of VR and Arizona@Work offices. We will make recommendations for assistive technology purchases and staff training needs, so you and your team can better serve your clients with disabilities.

Training Session
AT Arizona can provide direct training to VR and Arizona@Work staff, either virtually or in-person, in the use of the assistive technology available at your location. These trainings will teach staff to identify, maintain, and assist individuals with disabilities in the use of specific assistive technology.
